Mommy’s Weekly Playlist

Music sets the mood.  It also reflects the mood.

Here’s what I’m listening to this week!

Patty Griffin’s music just puts me at ease.

It’s repetitive, but in a peaceful, internal soundtrack kind of way. El Perro Del Mar’s God Knows ❤

I listen to this song with my mouth open.  Two powerhouses sharing one song?! Whitney and Mariah kill it.  I get a little emotional and have to listen to it on repeat sometimes. It’s from the movie The Prince of Egypt which has an awesome soundtrack.

Happy Groundhog’s Day! 🙂

A long time ago, before I was twenty one, I had the chance to hear Catherine Feeney perform live in an LA bar.  Hubs had played with Feeney and her boyfriend at the time, Joe Purdy.  Their voices were incredible and haunting and the entire room listened. I wish I could find my original CD of her music, before the tracks were really produced. Enjoy these 🙂

Brandi Carlile did it to me again. This video for “The Eye” was shot in a single take from a live performance at the Moore Theatre in Seattle. I want to play this on a loop all day.

Slushy, snowy, lazy day today! Let’s all sink in the covers to a little Ingrid Michaelson 🙂

Joni. I just love her. Joni Mitchell’s music IS driving across the country and staying in California in my early twenties. ❤

Regina Spektor 🙂 I first found out about Regina Spektor’s music about 12 years ago when hubs and I started dating. He was in LA’s open mic scene for a bit and had played with her in a musicians circle one night. Spektor’s music was quickly one of my favorites from the mixed CDs he used to make for me. On our wedding day we used this song for our recessional.

Jenny Lewis! This video fascinates me on so many levels.

Lennon and Maisy! If you haven’t heard these two sisters sing, prepare to get chills. If you close your eyes and listen, you’d never imagine that these powerful and mature voices come out of such young people. H&G love them too! 🙂

Oh my gosh, Ingrid Michaelson plays in my head all day. This song is on my internal playlist.
